Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Member of the Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health, as well as the Musculoskeletal Groups of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Bio

Trisha Wing is a Senior Physiotherapist at Tewantin Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, and has been a valued member of the team since 1997.

Experience

Trisha graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1981.
She worked at the Gold Coast Hospital where she was involved in medical/surgical ward work, as well as intensive & coronary care and physiotherapy outpatient care. She was also head physiotherapist for the rehabilitation unit, working closely with other members of a multidisciplinary team, including rheumatologists, orthopaedic surgeons and geriatricians.

As lead physiotherapist at the Blue Nursing Therapy Centre, Trisha was instrumental in the setting up and management of their hydrotherapy pool and rehabilitation service. She lectured in this area and was able to promote and achieve recognition for hydrotherapy as a valuable and funded form of physiotherapy treatment.

On moving to the Sunshine Coast in 1986, Trisha ran her own private practice based in Tewantin, Pomona & Cooroy for seven years. She was also, during this time, awarded visiting specialist privileges at the Noosa District Private Hospital where she attended to acute and chronic patients in many areas of physiotherapy, including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, pre/post-natal and rehabilitation. During this time, Trisha often lectured hospital staff and GP’s on many areas of physiotherapy, in particular patient handling and progressive exercise regimes.

Trisha developed a keen interest in the Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health areas of physiotherapy and has continued to expand her knowledge and skills in that area over the last 23 years. Other areas of general physiotherapy areas of interest include cervical headache, neck pain and vertigo, knee and shoulder rehabilitation, as well as clinical pilates and functional exercise programs to improve core stability, general mobility and fitness.

Trisha is a caring, compassionate and loyal member of our team and enjoys the camaraderie and socialisation of working in a busy and engaged physiotherapy practice.

Outside Interests

Her outside interests, apart from being a loving wife and mother, include singing in local community choir, Insingc. Occasionally one may hear a chorus or two (in conjunction with her patient) wafting from her room!
